Dairon Asprilla and Yimmi Chara both scored their first goals of the season as the Portland Timbers fought to a 2-2 draw agains the New England Revolution Saturday night at Providence Park.
The fact that Portland and New England fought to a draw certainly keeps in line with the two teams’ histories. In 11 all-time meetings between the Timbers and the Revolution, eight results have been draws including the last five meetings.
Timbers defender Claudio Bravo led all players with 103 touches in the match. He also had four shots.
Along with his first goal of the season, forward Dairon Asprilla had a game-best .70 expected goals rating. Saturday’s tally also marked the second-straight home opener where Asprilla has scored. He previous recorded a goal in Portland’s 2-1 win over Houston Dynamo FC on April 24, 2021.
