As part of our inaugural group of ticket holders, Robert and Lynn won the chance to have a VIP experience for the Portland Timbers vs. LA FC match, including KeyBank Club seats, and a chance to visit with Timber Joey on the field!
We asked Robert a few questions after the match.
What was your first memory of/first match supporting the Timbers?
"I don’t really have a first memory of a Timbers game. I supported the Timbers casually until 2009, going to a few games every year. But in 2009, they went on a 24-game unbeaten streak and I got stuck in, going to almost every game. The next year, the last in USL, I bought season tickets the first time Dan Zusmanwalked down the aisle in 107 selling them."
What was your favorite moment of the match tonight?
"My favorite moment today was absolutely Paredes’s goal. It put us in the lead for the first time, and I always love seeing a new player get his first slab."
Who would you nominate as Player of the Match?
"Adi. As always, he battled out opponent’s back line for most of the game, and that effort helped us score late. Even though he didn’t score or get an assist, he played a big role in the win."
What is your prediction for the next MLS match – Timbers at Colorado Rapids?
"I hate to say it, But Denver is rarely kind to us. But the Rapids are in the cellar so I think we can get a draw: 1-1."
What else should we know about your Timbers fandom?
"I don’t have any game day superstitions, but I do favor my Timbers Army scarf from the USL days and my signed Scot Thompson jersey from 2010. I wore it today and we won, so maybe it is lucky."
Congratulations Robert! And thank you for your continued support!
