First 10,000 fans receive a special keychain, courtesy of Modelo
Hispanic Heritage Night is set for Saturday, Sept. 19 when the Portland Timbers take on Atlanta United FC at Providence Park (7:30pm PT, TICKETS, Apple TV).
The evening features unique pregame and halftime performances, and fans can pick up a limited edition Hispanic Heritage Night scarf designed by local Latina illustrator and designer Jessica Paniagua-Rodriguez. The first 10,000 fans will receive a special keychain, courtesy of Modelo, with a design inspired by the limited edition scarf.
The scarf will be available exclusively at PTFC Authentic locations at Providence Park on matchday or fans can secure the scarf in advance with a special scarf + ticket package.
Hispanic Heritage Night | Sept. 19
Join us for Hispanic Heritage Night, presented by Modelo, on Sept. 19 with a full matchday featuring cultural performances and events! This night's limited-edition scarf is designed by Latina illustrator and designer Jessica Paniagua-Rodriguez and is inspired by the beauty within symbolism and textiles of Mexico. The evening will also feature a giveaway of 10,000 keychains, courtesy of Modelo.
Hispanic Heritage Night Performances
Across the street from SeatGeek Gate F in the Log Yard, the Emanuel Garcia Band will be performing pregame and there'll also be face painters, games, a color-your-own button station and more.
Additionally, the national anthem will be sung by Venezuelan singer-songwriter Sofi Nava with a halftime performance from Mexican folkloric dance group Ballet Papalotl.

Artist Statement from Paniagua-Rodriguez:
For the Timbers Hispanic Heritage Night scarf, I took in inspiration from the beauty within symbolism and textiles of Mexico.
My family is from Mexico, and I have always taken admiration from my roots and translated that into art. On the back, I incorporated one of Mexico's originated flowers – marigolds – which are not only beautiful, but significant during Dia de los Muertos and previously used by our Aztec ancestors during ritual ceremonies.
Along with marigolds, you can also see the integration of calla lillies, which not only originated from Mexico, but are significant to me and my family as they were my grandmother’s favorite flower and reminds me of her and the legacy she left behind.
I also incorporated a hummingbird, which is not only my favorite kind of bird, but has a very special significance of strength and re-incarnation. The monarch butterfly, as you may know, is very significant and I also included some cacti.
In the front, I really liked the idea of a split Timbers logo which you would be able to see fully together when someone is wearing it. I incorporated a sacred heart followed by more florals.
Overall, I would describe myself as a maximalist artist with a love for bold colorful art. I love showcasing symbolism, elements of my cultural background and social issues into my art as a way of bringing voice to what matters to me.
About Jessica Paniagua-Rodriguez
Jessica Paniagua-Rodriguez is a Latina illustrator and designer born and raised in Oregon. She established her Illustration business as "Jessartlet Illustrations" in 2021 where she designs original art prints and merchandise through her website and also has established wholesale partnerships throughout the U.S. with businesses such as Artelexia in California and The National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago. Within her years working as a freelance Illustrator, she has worked with brands such as: Covergirl, Fierce by Mitu, TJX Companies, The Rover App and small businesses as well.​
