International Notebook: Jamaica draws Panama 0-0 in World Cup qualifier

Portland Timbers goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts and defender Alvas Powell both started for the Jamaican national team in their 0-0 draw with Panama on Friday night at Estadio Rommel Fernandez. The draw keeps the Reggae Boyz in last place in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying with a record of 0-4-3.

Powell was replaced in the 43rd minute by New England Revolution defender O’Brian Woodbine. Ricketts made one save in the game before receiving a yellow card in the 87th minute. Timbers forward Ryan Johnson was in the Jamaica 18-man roster, but did not appear.


Jamaica’s next match comes on Tuesday when they host Costa Rica--fresh from a 3-1 win over the United States.
