Australia began their preparations for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup this week with a pair of matches in Auckland, New Zealand. The Matildas came away with two victories in three days, grabbing a 2-1 win over Korea DPR, while holding off a late charge from New Zealand for a 3-2 victory.
Thorns FC defender Steph Catley earned her 26th cap, starting and playing the first half, in Australia’s win over Korea DPR, but did not see any action in the win over New Zealand.
The squad will return home tomorrow before regrouping for another training camp starting in Canberra on Monday as preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 Canada continues.
