Colombian defender to join the senior national team in FIFA international period to face Uruguay, Ecuador
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers announced today that defender Juan David Mosquera has been called up by the Colombian Men’s National Team for the FIFA international period in October. The Colombian defender will join the senior national team in Barranquilla, Colombia, to compete in 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches against Uruguay (Oct. 12) and Ecuador (Oct. 17).
Mosquera, 21, made his debut with Colombia’s senior team on January 28, 2023, when he logged a full 90-minute performance against the U.S. Men’s National Team. Mosquera is set to join the senior national team for the third time in his career after making the roster for the first time in January (2023). Most recently in September, the defender received a callup into Colombia’s U-23 Men’s National Team to play two friendlies against Mexico to prepare for the 2023 Pan American XIX Games and the 2024 South American Pre-Olympic Tournament. Mosquera has also made appearances with Colombia’s U-17 Men’s National Team to participate in the 2019 South American U-17 Championship in Lima, Peru. This year with the Timbers, Mosquera has recorded two goals and six assists in 28 appearances (26 starts).
