Each Major League Soccer matchday in 2021, the KeyBank Scouting Report will give you a snapshot of the Portland Timbersā€™ next opponent. Saturday, the Portland Timbers travel to the Rocky Mountain State to face the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (6pm PT, FOX 12 PLUS).

Team Form

Head coach Robin Fraser has led Colorado Rapids to third place in the Western Conference on 52 points ā€“ six ahead of fourth place Portland ā€“ with a record of 14-6-10.

Since a 10-man Portland side drew 2-2 with them on Sept. 15 at Providence Park, the Rapids have gone 2-2-3 over their last seven matches, most recently drawing 1-1 with Seattle this past Wednesday at home. All told, Colorado has a record of 7-1-7 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

In Attack

Midfielder Michael Barrios leads the Rapids with eight goals to go along with five assists. Speedy midfielder Jonathan Lewis is second on the team in goals with five while the trio of midfielder Cole Bassett, and forwards Diego Rubio and Andre Shinyashiki have four goals each. The team as a whole has 17 different goal scorers.

With 12 assists, midfielder Jack Price is tops with Colorado and is third overall in MLS for most assists.

In Defense

Colorado's defense has allowed 32 goals in 2021 which is good for second in the Western Conference and the team has a +11 goal differential.

Leading the backline is defender Keegan Rosenberry who is the team's only player to have appeared in all 30 matches (30 starts). He's also contributed offensively having tallied two goals along with contributing three assists.

Auston Trusty has made 29 starts in defense and is the team-leader in interceptions with 52. Defender Lalas Abubakar has also made 20 appearances (19 starts) for Colorado as well.

One-time Liga MX LeĆ³n 'keeper William Yarbrough has started all but one of the Rapids matches. His 14 wins and 11 shutouts are both second highest in Major League Soccer.
