Each Major League Soccer matchday in 2021, the KeyBank Scouting Report will give you a snapshot of the Portland Timbersā€™ next opponent. On Wednesday, the Portland Timbers face Los Angeles FC at Providence Park. Kickoff for the nationally televised game is 7:30pm PT on FS1.

Team Form

Coming into the match, LAFC are in fifth place in the Western Conference ā€“ even on points for fourth ā€“ with a record of 6-4-3. They arrive in the Rose City having won three straight games, four of their last five and most recently defeated Real Salt Lake 2-1 in LA on Saturday.

Wednesday marks the first meeting between the two teams in 2021.

The Black-and-Gold are led by head coach Bob Bradley who has coached the team since their inaugural season in 2018.

In attack

LAFC boasts a formidable attack. Reigning Golden Boot winner Diego Rossi leads the team with five goals while 2019 MLS MVP Carlos Vela has two goals to go with a team-leading five assists. Midfielder JosƩ Cifuentes has four goals and two assists while forward Corey Baird has contributed three goals and two assists.

All told, LAFC has seven different goalscorers.

Familiar Faces

Former Timbers Homegrown defender Marco Farfan has been a constant in Bradley's side having made 11 appearances in 2021 (nine starts). The Portland, Ore. native played 34 regular-season matches with the Timbers between 2016-2020 and was part of the team's 2020 MLS is Back Tournament Championship and 2018 Western Conference Championship squads.

In Defense

The centerback pairing of Colombian compatriots JesĆŗs David Murillo and Eddie Segura have started every match of the 2021 season with Murillo having played every minute of the season so far..

Along with the aforementioned Farfan, the LAFC defense features South Korean defender Kim Moon-Hwan in the right back spot.

The LAFC defense has conceded 13 goals on the season which is good for second best in the Western Conference.
