MATCH RECAP | LA Galaxy 4, Portland Timbers 1

CARSON, Calif. – Jeremy Ebobisse scored a first-half goal but the Portland Timbers lost 4-1 to the LA Galaxy Friday night at Dignity Health Sports Park.

2' - CHANCE (POR) - Timbers forward Jeremy Ebobisse was sprung into space by midfielder Marvin LorĂ­a on a give-and-go play. Ebobisse drove towards goal but LA goalkeeper Jonathan Bond came off his line to deny the shot.

11' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland pushed ahead with Diego Valeri passing to LorĂ­a in the LA box. LorĂ­a went to the endline before cutting a ball back to the onrushing George Fochive but the midfielder's attempt was over the bar.

27' - GOAL (LA) - The Galaxy took a 1-0 lead off a corner kick that found Rayan Raveloson who bicycle kicked his shot into the back of the Timbers goal.

29' - GOAL (POR) - Just over a minute and a half later, the Ebobisse and the Timbers equalized. Yimmi Chara came down the left channel before passing to Ebobisse near the penalty spot. Ebobisse spun his defender before switching the ball back to his left foot to slot it past a diving Bond to make the score 1-1.

30' - CHANCE (POR) - Ebobisse almost doubled the lead with a spectacular shot to the top corner that LA's Bond made a finger-tip save to knock away before a Galaxy defender cleared the line on Yimmi Chara's follow-up attempt.

34' - GOAL (LA) - LA then went ahead 2-1 when defender Julian Araujo's cross to midfielder Victor Vázquez was headed into the goal.

53' - PK GOAL (LA) - Following a foul called against goalkeeper Steve Clark in the box, LA's Sacha Kljestan stepped to the spot and scored to make it 3-1 for the Galaxy.

56' - GOAL (LA) - The Galaxy took a 4-1 lead when Samuel Grandsir headed in a cross from Araujo.

78' - SAVE (POR) - Clark came back across the face of goal to deny LA's Kevin Cabral on the line.
