PORTLAND, Ore. – Major League Soccer today announced thatthe Portland Timbers’ home match against the Colorado Rapids at Providence Park on Sunday, Oct. 16, will be televised nationally on ESPN, beginning at 2 p.m. (Pacific).
Originally set to air on ROOT SPORTS, the home match against the Rapids marks the third and final meeting between the two teams during the regular season, with Portland and Colorado previously facing each other at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on July 4 and Oct. 1.
As part of a doubleheader on ESPN, the match against the Rapids is one of 10 intra-conference MLS games taking place on Oct. 16, as Eastern and Western Conference teams battle for final postseason positioning. All Eastern Conference matchups will kick off at 12 noon (Pacific), while all Western Conference matches will begin at 2 p.m. (Pacific). Accompanying the four hours of ESPN match coverage, MLS will feature pregame and postgame shows across multiple digital channels, including the MLS Facebook page, the MLS YouTube channel, ESPN3 and TSNGO.
