PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers have signed T2 goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh to a short-term agreement ahead of their Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 match against the LA Galaxy at Providence Park on Wednesday, it was announced today.
In his first season with T2 after a collegiate career at Santa Clara University, McIntosh, 22, has started and played 90 minutes in nine regular-season games with the Timbers’ USL affiliate in 2016. McIntosh, who has appeared with the U.S. U-17 and U-20 national teams previously, made his debut for T2 against Tulsa on April 23 and has posted two shutouts this season.
MLS clubs may sign players from their USL affiliate to short-term agreements (up to four-day contracts) for CONCACAF Champions League, Amway Canadian Championship, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and exhibition matches. An MLS club may sign a player to a maximum of four short-term agreements each season (maximum of 16 days).
The Timbers take on the Galaxy in the Round of 16 at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) on Wednesday. The U.S. Open Cup game will feature a live web stream at www.timbers.com.
