The Timbers kick off the 2016-2017 CONCACAF Champions League when they take on the champions of El Salvador, CD Dragón, Wednesday night at Providence Park (7:00pm PT, Facebook / Galavision). Here are five numbers to know in a special CCL edition of Quick Strikes.

16 CD Dragón will be the first team from El Salvador to ever play against the Timbers. Including friendlies and international competitions, Portland has played teams from 16 different nations in the 41-year history of the club.

7 Caleb Porter managed the Portland Timbers for the first time on March 3, 2013. In that span, Dragón has had seven different managers leading up to current head coach Omar Sevilla.

63 Last season, the Timbers won their first league championship in the club's history. Earlier this year, the San Miguel-based Dragón won their first league championship in 63 years.

+9 In four matches in CCL play, Portland has a goal differential of +9, outscoring opponents 15-to-six. The only MLS teams with a better all-time goal difference in CCL competition are the LA Galaxy (+16) and Real Salt Lake (+12).

13In the 14 competitive matches hosted by MLS teams against Salvadoran opponents, the MLS squads have 13 wins and one draw.
