PORTLAND, Ore.
– Individual and group tickets for the Portland Timbers’ fourth-round U.S. Open Cup showdown with the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday, Aug. 3, are still available, as one of Major League Soccer’s best makes the trip to PGE Park.
The event comes on the heels of the Timbers’ spirited match against Sunderland AFC of the English Premier League, giving fans yet another chance to watch Portland square off against top-level competition.
It’s also the second time in as many seasons the Timbers and Earthquakes have met in the tournament. San Jose won last year’s meeting 3-0 before a season-high crowd of 10,622 at PGE Park.
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the U.S. Soccer Federation’s National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. It is the oldest annual team tournament in U.S. sports history and among the oldest soccer tournaments of its type in the world.
Tickets for the match, which range from $13-$27, are available at area Ticketmaster outlets, online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at (503) 224-4400 and in person at the PGE Park box office.
Those interested in group tickets are encouraged to contact the Timbers ticket office at (503) 553-5407 for discounts of $3-$5 per ticket.
