The Portland Timbers and Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution announced today the Timbers have acquired goalkeeper
Brad Knighton
on loan from the MLS club for the remainder of the 2008 season.
As part of the loan agreement, Knighton can be recalled by New England as needed during the rest of the 2008 MLS season.
A native of Richmond, Va., Knighton, 23, is in his second season with the Revolution, having signed with the club as a free agent out of UNC-Wilmington prior to the 2007 season. Knighton was a two-time NSCAA All-Southeast Region and All-Colonial Athletic Association selection at UNC-Wilmington and finished his collegiate career ranked fifth in school history in shutouts (24) and goals-against average (1.07), and fourth in career saves (295). He led the Seahawks to four consecutive 10-win seasons and CAA tournaments berths.
Additionally, FC Dallas has recalled goalkeeper
