Timbers' David Guzmán, Marvin Loría called up by Costa Rica for international match against United States

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers midfielders David Guzmán and Marvin Loría have been named to the Costa Rican National Team for a friendly match against the U.S. Men’s National Team, it was announced today. The match will be played at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif., on Saturday, Feb. 2, beginning at 12:30 p.m. (Pacific). The match will be broadcast live on FOX.


Guzmán, 28, has earned 53 caps for his country since making his debut in 2010. His last international call-up was Oct. 16, 2018, when Costa Rica faced off against Colombia. 


Loría, 21, who receives his first call-up to the senior men’s national team, previously represented Costa Rica at the youth level. The San José, Costa Rica, native made several appearances for Costa Rica at the youth level, including making three appearances (1 start) at the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Costa Rica.
