Timbers return to face Vancouver on Aug. 26 at Providence Park.

HOUSTON– Playing their first regular season match in over a month, the Portland Timbers dropped a 5-0 result to Houston Dynamo FC at Shell Energy Stadium on Sunday night. Portland will return home to host Cascadia rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Providence Park on Saturday, Aug. 26 with a 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) kickoff.

HOU – Amine Bassi (penalty kick), 5th minute: The Timbers were whistled for a foul in the box and Amine Bassi converted the penalty kick for Houston.

HOU – Nelson Quiñónes (Héctor Herrera), 11th minute: Héctor Herrera headed the ball down for Nelson Quiñónes at the penalty spot. With his back to goal, Quiñónes whipped a right-footed volley low and hard into the back of the net.

HOU – Corey Baird (Adalberto Carrasquilla), 14th minute: Adalberto Carrasquilla played a through ball for Corey Baird, who dribbled down the right side of the box and placed a shot into the far corner of the goal.

HOU – Franco Escobar (Corey Baird), 45+3 minute: Franco Escobar and Corey Baird combined for a give-and-go outside of the box. Escobar dribbled into the six-yard area and chipped the ball into the back of the net.
