Timbers midfielder Diego Chara visits his native Colombia in offseason, donates to area organization

Diego Chara, giving back in Colombia, 1.23.17

Portland Timbers players reported to Providence Park Monday for the first day of preseason. Many spent parts of their offseason visiting family, including midfielder Diego Chara who traveled to his native Colombia for a bit.

While there, Chara brought a collection of soccer gear and Timbers shirts to share with Asociacion de Consejos Comunitarios, an organization that works with area youth in helping them get ahead and create a better future for themselves and their families.

For Chara, who has a deep commitment to giving back to the community, he worked with his group because, he said, "They have achieved a lot of positive/great results for the youth through their hard work and efforts."
