PORTLAND, Ore. – United Soccer Leagues today announced that Portland Timbers U-23s goalkeeper Jason Dodson was named an honorable mention on the Premier Development League Team of the Week for Week 4.
Dodson was recognized for his shutout performance in a 0-0 draw against the Kitsap Pumas on the road May 21. Making his season debut for the Timbers U-23s, Dodson picked up his first clean sheet to help continue the team’s current stretch of 305 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal.
A native of Lake Oswego, Ore., Dodson is the second Timbers U-23s player this season to earn PDL Team of the Week honors. Forward Brent Richards was named the PDL Player of the Week for Week 3, scoring the third hat trick in team history in a 6-0 win over the Washington Crossfire on May 15.
The Timbers U-23s close out a two-match week Sunday as they play host to the Tacoma Tide at Clackamas High School in Clackamas, Ore., at 5 p.m.; the match doubles as a 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifier. On Wednesday, the team defeated the North Sound SeaWolves 2-0 at JELD-WEN Field.
