PORTLAND, Ore. - United Soccer Leagues announced Thursday that Portland Timbers U-23s defender Dylan Tucker was named to the Premier Development League Team of the Week for Week 8. It is his first PDL Team of the Week selection.
Tucker scored his first goal of the season and contributed to the team’s fifth shutout in a 4-0 victory over the Tacoma Tide on June 18 at Kiggins Bowl in Vancouver, Wash.
Entering his junior season at the University of Washington this fall, Tucker has played in seven games for the Timbers U-23s in 2011, logging 507 minutes. He attempted a season-high three shots against the Tide last weekend.
Tucker is the third Timbers U-23s players to be named to the PDL’s Team of the Week this season, joining forward Brent Richards (Week 3) and midfielder Bim Ogunyemi (Week 8).
The Timbers U-23s play host to the Washington Crossfire on Saturday at Sherwood High School in Sherwood, Ore., at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available for purchase at the gate. Sherwood Soccer Club is conducting a canned food drive at the game, benefitting Sherwood Helping Hands.
