Due to MAX tunnel construction, beginning at 5pm PT on Saturday, TriMet is adding EXPRESS shuttle buses between Sunset Transit Center and the stadium, leaving about every seven minutes
Get to Providence Park early on Saturday!
TriMet MAX Blue and Red lines between Sunset Transit Center and Providence Park will be disrupted for the Portland Timbers match with the New York City Red Bulls on Saturday, Sept. 13 (7:30pm PT, MLS Season Pass, TICKETS) due to a large MAX project in the Robertson Tunnel.
Your matchday ticket will still get you to and from the game on TriMet buses and trains, but in addition to the regular shuttle buses, MAX riders coming in from Beaverton, Hillsboro and other parts of Washington County will be able to use an EXPRESS shuttle bus between Sunset Transit Center and Providence Park.
Beginning at 5pm PT, TriMet is adding EXPRESS shuttle buses from Sunset Transit Center to the stadium, leaving about every seven minutes. At the Sunset Transit Center, the EXPRESS bus will pick up riders near the stop TriMet has been using for its regular shuttle buses. Those shuttle buses will take a little longer to arrive at Providence Park, as they stop first at Washington Park and Goose Hollow.
Look for “EXPRESS” on the bus overhead sign. After the match, EXPRESS shuttle buses will leave from SW 18th & Taylor about every seven minutes and run directly to Sunset Transit Center. Just head to the sidewalk outside the gates of Providence Park, alongside SW 18th Avenue at SW Taylor Street.

- Head to the match early. EXPRESS shuttle bus trips will take a bit longer than they would by MAX train.
- EXPRESS buses may be crowded. So, just as in the stadium, be courteous of your fellow fans.
- Heading to Providence Park from the east? No problem. MAX Blue and Red Line trains will be running on their regular schedules.
- Stay in the know with Trimet.org. Use the Trip Planner ahead of traveling, monitor vehicles in real-time with the interactive map, and sign up for Service Alerts for up-to-the-minute information about delays and disruptions.
- TriMet staff will be at Sunset Transit Center before the match and at Providence Park afterward. Most will be wearing green vests that read "On-Street Customer Service." Reach out if you need help.
- Keep an eye out for signs directing you to the EXPRESS shuttle bus locations, which are located near the Park & Ride at Sunset Transit Center and at SW 18th Avenue and SW Taylor Street at Providence Park.
- Hop aboard the EXPRESS shuttle as soon as the doors open. No need to show your ticket.
- Look for “EXPRESS” on the bus overhead sign.
- Regular shuttle buses will also continue to run but will take longer as they also stop at Washington Park.
- Watch out for each other and share what you know with others!
Regular MAX Service will resume on Sunday, Sept. 14.
