Timbers re-sign goalkeeper Hunter Sulte to multi-year contract
Homegrown player signs through 2027-28 season with an option for 2028-29

ACQUIRED: Signed as a Homegrown Player on Nov. 11, 2020. On December 4, 2025, the Timbers re-signed Sulte to a multi-year contract through the 2027-28 season with a club option for 2028-29.
2024-2025: On loan with USL side Indy Eleven. Made 59 appearances across all competitions in his two years in Indiana, recording 18 clean sheets (second most in Indy’s USL history). Notably, he helped lead Indy to their best-ever U.S. Open Cup finish in 2024, recording two shutouts in four starts enroute to Eleven’s first semifinals appearance in the tournament
2022-2023: Spent time with Timbers2 in MLS NEXT Pro.
2021: Made his first MLS appearance at Providence Park, logging 22 minutes off the bench against Seattle on May 9... Made his MLS and Timbers debut, starting and making two saves against FC Dallas on May 1, becoming the second youngest goalkeeper in MLS history to play in a league match.
2020: Made eight appearances (8 starts) for Portland Timbers 2 during the 2020 USL Championship campaign, tallying 31 saves.
CAREER: The first player from Alaska to sign a Homegrown contract with an MLS club, he joined the Timbers Academy in 2016 and made appearances at the U-14, U-16/17, and U-18/19 levels. He took part in the Timbers’ first team training camp in Costa Rica before the 2020 campaign enroute to making his MLS debut in 2021.Â
PERSONAL: Sulte was the senior class president at Southridge High School in Beaverton, Ore., and is fluent in German.
