PORTLAND, Ore.
- Portland Timbers midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 13, it was announced today.
Kreamalmeyer earned the honors after scoring twice in Friday’s match at Charleston. Kreamalmeyer netted in the 21st minute after a free kick from Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar deflected off the wall to Kreamalmeyer’s feet.
Byron Alvarez set up Kreamalmeyer for his second goal by winning the ball in midfield, then crossing the ball into the penalty box where Kreamalmeyer was waiting to tap the ball into the back of the net.
The accolades marked the second weekly award this season for Kreamalmeyer, who, along with goalkeeper Bayard Elfvin, was named to the league’s Team of the Week for Week 10.
Next up for the Timbers is a home-and-home series against the Seattle Sounders. Portland faces off against Seattle on Friday at 8 p.m. at PGE Park, with the match being broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel.
