CORNELIUS, Ore.
– The Cornelius Fred Meyer will be hosting a special meet-and-greet with midfielder Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar, forward Byron Alvarez and forward Jaime Ambriz this Saturday, August 19, from noon to 1 p.m.
Fred Meyer, which is located at 2200 Baseline Rd. in Cornelius, will have the players available to meet and sign autographs. KGDD AM-1520 Spanish-language radio will be on-site broadcasting live, and the first 50 fans to meet the players will get a free level two ticket to the Timbers’ August 31 match vs. Montreal.
Alcaraz-Cuellar, 29, has made 23 appearances for the Timbers this season, scoring three goals and tallying five assists. Alcaraz-Cuellar, who is playing his fifth season in Portland, is the franchise’s all-time leader in assists with 44.
Alvarez, 27, entered the 2006 season as the Timbers' all-time career leader in points (81) and goals (37). In his fourth season with the Timbers, Alvarez has scored two goals nad tallied two assists in 21 appearances for the Timbers this season.
Ambriz, 27, played for Concordia Basel in the Swiss Challenger Division last season, while he has also previously played for FV Lyss and FC Winthertur in Switzerland. Prior to turning professional, Ambriz was a standout at UC-Santa Barbara, where he led the team in goals in 1999 and 2000.
