Jordan, Thompson named to Team of the Week

PORTLAND
, Ore.
–United Soccer Leagues today named Portland Timbers forward
Bryan Jordan
and defender
Scot Thompson
to the First Division’s Team of the Week for Week 6 for their performances against the California Victory and Carolina Railhawks.
Jordan, who set up Thompson’s goal and then tallied one of his own against the Victory, earned his second Team of the Week selection this season.
Thompson earned his first Team of the Week selection with a goal in the ninth minute against the Victory on May 25 at PGE Park. Thompson’s goal started on a free kick from
Andrew Gregor
just outside the box. California goalkeeper Eric Reed deflected Gregor’s ball out to Jordan on the wing who then squeezed a pass to Thompson four yards out from the goal. Thompson re-directed the ball inside the far post for his first goal of the year.
Jordan scored his second goal of the season in the 55th minute against California on a loose ball in front of the net. Timbers forward
Chris Bagley
headed a cross from Gregor to set up the goal. Bagley’s shot was knocked down by Reed, but he was unable to get a handle on the ball before Jordan punched it in.
With the win against California and a 0-0 draw against Carolina on May 27, the Timbers earned four points over the weekend and are currently tied for sixth in the USL First Division with a record of 3-1-2 (12pts).
The Timbers scrimmage Oregon United Soccer Academy’s U-23 team on June 2 at Sheldon High School in Eugene, Ore. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. For more information visit,
