PORTLAND, Ore. –
The Portland Timbers are among several clubs from around the world who have contributed items to the U.S. Soccer Foundation for their Holiday Auction to benefit the David Vanole Memorial Fund. Now available for auction, is a soccer ball autographed by the successful 2007 Timbers team.
The auction closes on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern) and is available online at www.ussoccerfoundation.org/auction.
In addition to the Timbers autographed ball and promotional pack, the collection for this year’s auction includes autographed balls and jerseys from clubs and players such as Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Julie Foudy, Mia Hamm, Liverpool, Rangers FC, and Paris St. Germain.
Vanole, a former goalkeeper who earned 13 caps for the U.S. National Team, suddenly past away earlier this year while on vacation with his family. After his playing career ended, Vanole was a goalkeeper coach for several U.S. National teams and was the goalkeeper coach for D.C. United of Major League Soccer from 2004-06.

Now through Jan. 7, fans who purchase their 2008 Timbers season tickets will receive an autographed slice of Timber Jim’s famous pole at PGE Park. Season tickets, starting as low as $142.50 for 15 home matches, and a variety of ticket packages are available by contacting the Timbers ticket office at (503) 553-5555.
