PORTLAND
, Ore.
– The Portland Timbers will hold their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Thursday at PGE Park as they host the Atlanta Silverbacks at 7 p.m. The annual event is a benefit for children in need as part of the team's community outreach efforts.
On Thursday, fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed teddy bear or animal to toss on the field after the Timbers score their first goal of the match. The stuffed animals will be collected and distributed to children and families at Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
The first 1,000 fans to watch the Timbers battle the Silverbacks in a rematch of last season's USL First Division semifinal receive a Timbers car flag presented by Les Schwab.
Tickets, starting at $11, are available at the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phoning (503) 224-4400.
