As the Timbers finish their fifth week of preseason, midfielder Josh Cameron reflects back on the week, playing against his alma mater, and where the team sits just weeks out from the 2009 season.
Here is the latest installment of Josh's Camp Report:
Welcome back … Here we are at the conclusion of Week 5. I can’t believe it’s been that long since we started training camp. Time has been flying by. We are just about two weeks away from our opening game and we are getting closer and closer to being ready for that game. Things have been going pretty good. Training has been sharp and we got a win in our last preseason game against my old school – Oregon State.
It was pretty cool being able to go back and play against my old team on the field I have played on the last four years of my life. It was good to see my old teammates and coaches, however a little weird knowing I was on a different team, competing and trying to win the game.
It was a hard fought game; we had the ball for the majority of the game especially in the second half. We had a few good chances even though we were only able to finish one of them. The game ended 1-0 with the majority of the chances in our favor.
As the week finishes, we are preparing for another training game on Monday against the Sounders as we get closer and closer to opening weekend in Vancouver. Things are moving along and the team is feeling confident with where we are however we could be finishing a little better in our games. That will come. I’ll let you know how our game goes on Monday. Have a great weekend and an amazing Easter.
