Timbers, Red Cross Join Forces For Spring Storm Partnership

Stand Together

PORTLAND, Ore.— The Portland Timbers and American Red Cross are teaming together in a Spring Storm Partnership to help raise funds to aid the victims of recent tornadoes in Joplin, Mo., and spring storms around the country through a text message-based campaign.

The Red Cross will also be on-hand to collect donations at JELD-WEN Field Sunday as the Timbers play host to D.C. United at 2 p.m.

Fans can text ‘REDCROSS’ to 90999 to donate $10 to help with the effort.

Joplin – the hometown of Timbers midfielder and captain Jack Jewsbury – and other parts of southwest Missouri were struck by a tornado Sunday, killing over 100 people. It was the deadliest single tornado in the United States since 1953.
