USL Match Preview | Portland Timbers 2 at Arizona United | Apr. 25, 2015

PORTLAND, Ore. – T2 will travel to Scottsdale Stadium in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Saturday to face Arizona United SC in the last of a four-game road swing before returning to Providence Park next week; kickoff on Saturday is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific).

T2 (2-2-1, 7pts) are currently tied for fourth place in the Western Conference as they finish their four-game road trip this week. Portland tied its first match away at Real Monarchs SLC, then sustained consecutive losses away from home at Seattle and Sacramento, respectively. In their last match on April 18, T2 were defeated 3-0 by defending USL-champion Sacramento Republic FC at Bonney Field in Sacramento, Calif.

T2 forward Kharlton Belmar ranks third overall with three goals scored over the first five matches, including the club’s first-ever goal in USL in a win over Real Monarchs on March 29.

Portland Timbers midfielder Will Johnson is set to join T2 Saturday against Arizona United SC. The plan, according to Timbers head coach Caleb Porter, is for Johnson to play around 50-60 minutes to help get him back to full match fitness.

Arizona United SC (3-1-0, 9pts) enter Saturday’s match tied for second place in the Western Conference after suffering their first defeat of the year in their last game, losing 3-0 against Orange County Blues FC at Anteater Stadium on April 18. Saturday will mark the home opener for Arizona United SC, having played their first four matches of the 2015 USL season on the road. Forwards Long Tan and Dennis Chin have led the way for United SC, each scoring two goals and providing one assist apiece in four starts this season.

Saturday’s road match will be carried on a live, high-definition web stream on www.timbers2.com.

Following Saturday’s match, T2 return home to face Orange County Blues FC at Providence Park on Sunday, May 3; kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (Pacific). It is one of two T2 games to be played at Providence Park this season.
