Timbers on Campus: Week of Aug 30, 2015

As the calendar turns over from the last moments of summer to the first days of autumn, it signals the start of school, bringing with it a new college men’s soccer season. The new campaign has begun with many teams kicking off their opening matches last weekend. Throughout the season, we will keep fans updated on Timbers Academy alumni who are competing at the collegiate level.

Grant Alcorn (Jr., GK – Concordia University): Concordia faces Humboldt State University on Friday, Sept. 4, in the first match of the 2015 regular season.

Abdiel Morfin (Jr., D – Concordia University): Recovering from offseason knee surgery; Concordia faces Humboldt State on Sept. 4.

Mitch North (Jr., GK – Sonoma State): Sonoma State faces Simon Fraser in first match of the 2015 regular season on Thursday, Sept 3.

James Nosack (Jr., M – Univ. of Washington): Started and played 79 minutes in a 3-0 win over UC-Davis (8/30); logged 45 minutes as a starter in the Huskies’ 1-0 win against Gonzaga (8/28).


Stefan Wutte (Jr., D – Creighton University): Did not see action in Creighton’s match against UW-Milwaukee (8/30) or the University of Michigan (8/28).

Timur Zhividze (Jr., F – Corban University): Did not see action in season-opening match against Embry-Riddle (8/28).

Niko De Vera (So., D – University of Akron): Logged 43 minutes as a substitute in Akron’s 4-1 loss against Old Dominion (8/31); started and played 66 minutes in 3-2 overtime win against Virginia Commonwealth (8/28).


Jesse Garcia-Aguilar (So., M – University of Akron): Logged 17 minutes as a substitute in the Zips’ 4-1 loss against Old Dominion (8/30); came on as a substitute in Akron’s 3-2 overtime win against VCU (8/28).

Issa Hassan (So., M – Evergreen State College): Started and played 90 minutes in a 3-1 win against Northwest Christian University (8/27), registering two shots, including one on goal.

Octavio Hermosillo (So., M – Clark College): Tallied an assist in a 3-1 loss to North Idaho College (8/30); did not see action in match against Highline College (8/29).

Foster Langsdorf (So., F – Stanford University): Started second consecutive game, playing 35 minutes in a 1-0 win against 18th-ranked Louisville (8/31); Logged 34 minutes as a starter, registering three shots, including one on goal, in a 1-0 loss for the No. 8-ranked Cardinal against No. 17 UC-Santa Barbara (8/28).

Anthony Macchione (So., F – University of Akron): Registered second consecutive goal of the season in 4-1 loss against Old Dominion (8/31); tallied game-winning goal in second overtime to lead the Zips in a 3-2 win over VCU (8/28) while recording four shots (3 on goal).


Collin Partee (So., GK – Utah Valley): Registered second straight shutout and two saves in 2-0 win over Univ. of Mass-Lowell (8/30); started and played 90 minutes in 1-0 overtime win against the Univ. of Massachusetts (8/28).

Alex Segovia (So., M – Oregon State University): Appeared for 22 minutes as a second-half substitute in 1-0 win over Michigan State (8/30); logged 30 minutes as a substitute in 1-0 overtime win against Marquette (8/28).

Sam Werner (So., M – Stanford University): Logged 29 minutes as second-half substitute in 1-0 win over Louisville (8/31); recorded 55 minutes as a substitute in 1-0 loss against UC-Santa Barbara (8/28).
