#StatMan Three | Diego Valeri caps an historic comeback for the Timbers

With three goals in the final 27 minutes of the match, the Portland Timbers stormed back to defeat the Houston Dynamo 3-2 at Providence Park Sunday afternoon. Here are three #StatMan takeaways from the match.

2 For the first time in the history of the Timbers across all eras, the team overcame a two-goal deficit to win a match in regular-season regulation. The last time the Timbers overcame a two-goal disadvantage and won was May 29, 2004, when Alan Gordon completed a hat-trick with an overtime golden goal in the 96th minute.

40 With his assist on Lucas Melano's 64th-minute goal, Diego Valeri moved into the top 50 for most assists in the history of MLS with the 40th of his Portland career. Valeri's 40 assists are tied with David Beckham, Patrick Nyarko, Dema Kovalenko and Jesse Marsch.

2&1 For the second time in his career, Valeri scored two goals and notched an assist in the same match. The midfielder is the first Timbers player in the team's MLS era to accomplish that feat on multiple occasions.
