International Notebook | Darlington Nagbe, Alvas Powell both feature in U.S. win over Jamaica

Darlington Nagbe, USMNT vs. Jamaica, 2.3.17

Portland Timbers teammates went head-to-head Friday night in Chattanooga, Tenn. as Darlington Nagbe and the U.S. Men's National Team beat Alvas Powell and Jamaica 1-0 in an international friendly.

Powell, who joined the Jamaica squad earlier this week after opening preseason camp with the Timbers in Tucson, Ariz., played the full 90 for the Reggae Boyz manning the right flank in defense. He was credited with one shot on the evening.

Nagbe came in off the bench in the 63rd minute and was quickly called into action defensively against his Timbers teammate as Powell made a forward run into the attacking third.

Nagbe also combined with former Portland teammate Jorge Villafaña in the 67th minute to create a scoring chance for the Americans. Working the left side, he passed the ball for Villafaña who then whipped in a cross to Sebastian Lletget near the penalty spot. Lletget leaped high for the header but his shot was right at Jamaica 'keeper Ryan Thompson.

Forward Jordan Morris scored the game's only goal in the 58th minute to give the USMNT the victory.
