USL MATCH PREVIEW | T2 to host Orange County SC Saturday at Providence Park

PORTLAND, Ore. – Playing their second home match of the 2017 season, T2 will play host to Orange County SC at Providence Park on Saturday, April 8. Set to begin at 7 p.m. (Pacific), Saturday’s match will be available via a live, high-definition web stream at www.timbers2.com.

The match on Saturday marks the first of two matches between the two clubs in 2017, as both teams will meet again Saturday, July 1, at Anteater Stadium. In the last meeting between the two clubs, T2 defeated Orange County 2-1 on Aug. 14, 2016, at Merlo Field.

T2 (0-3-0, 0pts) enter Saturday’s contest looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss on the road to Seattle Sounders FC 2. T2 took the lead early in the second half after midfielder Victor Arboleda found Villyan Bijev just outside the top of the box on the counter. Bijev took a touch past his defender and rifled a shot past the outstretched arms of S2 goalkeeper Tyler Miller and into the top left corner of the net in the 51st minute. T2 goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 2 after recording 13 saves across two matches against Swope Park Rangers on March 28, and Sounders FC 2 on April 2.

In the 1-0 loss to Swope Park on March 28, McIntosh recorded a game-high six saves. McIntosh made a season-high seven saves against Cascadia-rival Sounders FC 2 in a 2-1 loss on April 2.

Playing their third consecutive match on the road to start the season, Orange County SC (1-1-0, 3pts) heads into Saturday’s match after falling 4-0 to Sacramento Republic FC at Papa Murphy’s Park on Saturday, April 1. Forward Duke Lacroix leads the team in scoring after scoring two goals in the 2-0 win over expansion side Reno 1868 FC on Saturday, March 25. Head coach Logan Pause enters his first year in charge of the club after spending the 2016 season with the Chicago Fire as an assistant coach.

Following Saturday’s match, T2 will play host to Cascadia-rival Whitecaps FC 2 on Sunday, April 16; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Pacific).
