Timbers and Thorns bike art hit the streets of Portland

On Thursday, Portland Timbers community ambassador Jack Jewsbury joined striping crews from the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) to install Portland Timbers-themed bike lane art on SW Naito Parkway in downtown Portland.

The stencil is one of four pieces that will be installed across the downtown area, commemorating the Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC.

Bike lane art has become a popular symbol of Portland’s bike community and has brought national and international attention to the city’s bicycle lanes. Since 1999, PBOT striping crews have installed art in bike lanes, celebrating influential figures and organizations such as Prince, Portland Trailblazer Jerome Kersey, David Bowie and Oregon Ducks football.
