Quick Strikes | LAFC marks the 17th different team the Timbers have played against in the Open Cup

The Portland Timbers will look to advance to the semifinals of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for the second time as they take on Los Angeles FC Wednesday at Banc of California Stadium (7:30pm PT, Stream on Timbers.com). Here are five numbers to know in a special U.S. Open Cup edition of Quick Strikes.

0 Of the eight remaining teams in the U.S. Open Cup, the Timbers are one of two clubs that hasn’t conceded a goal in the competition yet this year. The other is the Houston Dynamo, who defeated Minnesota United FC and the North Texas Rayados of the North Texas Premier Soccer League.

1 For the first time in its MLS era, Portland will play consecutive matches at the same away stadium. Banc of California Stadium will host the Timbers in both league and U.S. Open Cup play within a four-day span.

17 LAFC is the 17th different team the Timbers have played against in the Open Cup since their debut in the competition in 2004. Of those 17, seven have hailed from the state of California.

3 Three different Timbers players have scored in the U.S. Open Cup this season, which is the most for Portland since 2015. Sebastián Blanco, Jeremy Ebobisse, and Dairon Asprilla have found the back of the net in the club's two USOC victories.

1998 Head coach Giovanni Savarese has had success as a player in the quarterfinals round of the Cup. On July 22, 1998, Savarese had a brace as his New York/New Jersey MetroStars defeated the Tampa Bay Mutiny 4-0 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
