Quick Strikes | Timbers lead MLS in using their heads

Sebastian Blanco, Timbers vs. Impact, 7.21.18

The Portland Timbers square off with the Houston Dynamo Saturday night at Providence Park (8pm PT, FOX 12 PLUS). Here are five key numbers to know for #PORvHOU in the latest Quick Strikes.

10Portland has scored 10 goals this season from headers, which is tied for the most by an MLS team this season. Six different Timbers players have scored with their heads in 2018, which is the most by different players in a single club.

6 Reigning MVP Diego Valeri has contributed to six goals in the club's last four matches with five assists and one goal. The 2018 MLS All-Star leads the team in assists (8) this season and is tied for the club lead in goals (7).

13/6 Since draws were added to MLS in 2000, the Timbers are just the second team to have a 13-game unbeaten streak that started with a winning streak of six games or longer. The only other club is D.C. United in 2007, a season the club went on to win the Supporters' Shield.

50 In Portland's last match, Sebastián Blanco became the 24th Timbers player to play 50 MLS matches with the club. Blanco has the eighth-most MLS goals and seventh-most MLS assists for the Timbers since the team joined the league in 2011.

7 Since May 19th, Samuel Armenteros has scored seven goals, which is tied for the fifth-most in MLS in that span. The forward is the only Timbers player with multiple braces this season, having scored twice on two different occasions.
