Quick Strikes | Portland looking to continue strong home record history against Toronto

Zarek Valentin, Timbers vs. Houston, 7.28.18

Off a short turnaround, the Portland Timbers will host Toronto FC on Wednesday at Providence Park (7:30pm PT, ROOT SPORTS). Here are five numbers to know for #PORvTOR in the latest edition of Quick Strikes.

5 Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco was one of five finalists for last season's MLS MVP award, which was won by Portland's Diego Valeri. This season the Timbers are undefeated against the teams with 2017 MVP finalists with a win and two draws.

3 The Timbers have hosted Toronto FC just three times since joining MLS in 2011. In those three matches, Portland has scored eight goals in route to a 2-0-1 record.

232Diego Chara has started 232 matches since making his debut in April 2011. In that timespan, no field player has started more matches for a single MLS club than the Colombian midfielder.

11 After tying a career-high for shots in a single match against Seattle (2), defender Zarek Valentin is up to 11 shot attempts this season. Coming into 2018, Valentin had taken 11 shots in his entire MLS career.

1 The first victory in the history of the Portland Timbers was a 1-0 victory over Toronto Metros-Croatia on May 7, 1975. Including that match, Portland has never lost to a Toronto team at home (7-0-1) with victories over Metros-Croatia, the Toronto Blizzard, the Toronto Lynx and Toronto FC.
