Quick Strikes | Blanco looks to continue scoring streak

Sebastian Blanco #2, Timbers @ Rapids, 3.2.19

After securing a draw in their season opener, the Portland Timbers look to notch their first victory of the season when they face off with Los Angeles FC on Sunday (4:30pm PT, FS1). Here are five numbers to know for #LAFCvPOR in the latest Quick Strikes.

16 Against Colorado, midfielder Diego Valeri had both a goal and an assist in the same MLS match for the 16th time in his Portland career. Since his debut in 2013, only Sebastian Giovinco and David Villa have accomplished the feat in more MLS games.

24 After one week of MLS play, the Timbers are tied for the most shots of any MLS club with 24 shots attempted. The 24 shots were also the most Portland has ever attempted in an away match.

6 Defender Larrys Mabiala led all MLS defenders in goals last season and in the first week of the season, the French defender made his mark on the offensive end. Mabiala's six shots were the second-most attempted by a centerback in a single MLS match since Opta started tracking the league in 2010.

4 Dating back to last season, Sebastián Blanco has scored in each of his last four starts in the regular season. Blanco is the third Timbers player, after Diego Valeri and Fanendo Adi, to score in four consecutive MLS starts for the club.

17 The 17 corner kicks attempted by the Timbers against Colorado were tied for the third-most corner kicks ever attempted by an MLS team in a single match. Only the 1999 MetroStars and 2008 Columbus Crew attempted more corners in a game.
