As part of our inaugural group of ticket holders, Mike and Brieanne won the chance to have a VIP experience for the Portland Timbers vs. Houston Dash match, including KeyBank Club seats, and a chance to visit with Timber Joey on the field!
We asked Mike a few questions after the match.
What was your first memory of/first match supporting the Timbers?
"We used to go to games for Thirsty Thursdays, and I was not prepared for the increased fan support when they joined MLS. I remember being blown away the first match with the sold-out crowd and excitement. I'm very thankful that my brother was so on top of getting the season tickets. (Thanks Roger!)"
What was your favorite moment of the match tonight?
"Um, a VIP escort to our seats and down to the field, free food in the KeyBank Club, Timbers winning 4-0, and spending the night with my wonderful wife, can I say all of it?"
Who would you nominate as Player of the Match?
"Loría scored in his debut, Fernandez kept his streak alive, Clark had a shutout, and we can’t win a game without Chara. I have to go with Valeri though, who had a goal and three assists. You can’t do much better than that."
What is your prediction for the next MLS match – Timbers vs Montreal Impact?
"I think the Timbers will tie 1-1 on a second half goal from Blanco. My hope is that Valeri, Chara, and Fernandez stay in Portland, and we continue to rest and rotate players so that we’re fresh for the weekend conference game against Dallas."
What else should we know about your Timbers fandom?
"My wife is very superstitious, and she thinks that she needs to wear a certain outfit for the Timbers to win. (She doesn’t realize that it’s my shirt choice that determines the outcome.)"
Our favorite piece of Timbers memorabilia is probably our cat, Timber. He’s a redhead like the great Nat Borchers.
