Defender Nathan Smith was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 18 of the 2019 season after helping T2 earn a 1-1 draw against Tulsa Roughnecks FC at Providence Park on July 6.
Smith won 11 of 13 duels and seven of eight aerials while registering eight recoveries. Additionally, Smith won the penalty that led to Todd Wharton’s game-tying goal in the 98th minute, the latest goal scored in T2 history.
It marks the first time this season that Smith, who has made 14 appearances (10 starts) and tallied one goal and two assists for T2 in 2019, has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week. Additionally, the award marks the eighth time in 2019 that a T2 player has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week.
Next up, T2 travel to face Sacramento Republic FC at Papa Murphy’s Park on Saturday, July 13. Beginning at 8 p.m. (Pacific), the match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
