Quick Strikes | Timbers face Sounders as regular season starts anew

For the first time in 168 days, the Portland Timbers will play at Providence Park when they take on Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday night (7pm PT, FS1). Here are five numbers to know for #PORvSEA in the latest edition of Quick Strikes.

10 In all MLS competitions (regular season, playoffs, and MLS is Back Tournament), Diego Valeri has delivered 10 assists against the Sounders. That is tied for the most assists for a Timbers player against any single club in MLS play with Valeri also having 10 assists against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

3-1-1 Sunday's match will be the sixth regular-season game of the 2020 MLS season for the Timbers, who currently have a 3-1-1 record. The 10 points through five matches is tied for the best ever start to an MLS regular season for Portland.

8 With the MLS is Back Tournament title under their belts, the Timbers are in the midst of an eight-game unbeaten streak across all competitions. It is the Timbers longest unbeaten run in all competitions since 2018, when Portland played 14 consecutive matches without a loss.

21 Midfielder Diego Chara has appeared in 21 regular-season matches against the Sounders, which is tied for the most by any player in the rivalry in the clubs' MLS eras. If he plays Sunday, Chara will move out of the tie with former Sounders midfielder Osvaldo Alonso.

5X2Five different Timbers players have notched braces against the Sounders in MLS play, which is tied for the most Portland players with braces against a single club. Of those five players, three are still with the club (Chara, Larrys Mabiala, and Valeri).
