T2 schedule set for 2022 MLS NEXT Pro Season

PORTLAND, Ore. – MLS NEXT Pro today announced details for the league’s inaugural season schedule which kicks off on March 25. T2 will open its first season in the league on Wednesday, March 30, against Earthquakes II at Hillsboro Stadium in Hillsboro, Ore.; kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (Pacific).

Each MLS NEXT Pro team will compete in 24 regular season games, 12 home and 12 away, across a 26-weeks, culminating on Sept. 18 with MLS NEXT Pro Decision Day. Prioritizing regional play, teams have been divided into two conferences, an Eastern and Western Conference, comprised of two Divisions in each. Each team will play divisional opponents two to three times, as well as the other teams in their conference at least twice. A total of four non-conference matchups will take place during the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season. A total of eight teams, four from each conference, will qualify for the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. This includes the top team from each division, and the two teams with the next most points in each conference. More information about the playoff format and schedule will be announced at a later date.

As part of a three-game home stand, T2 will play host to Cascadia rivals Tacoma Defiance on July 10 and Vancouver Whitecaps FC II on July 16 as part of MLS NEXT Pro Rivalry Week. Portland concludes its home stand with a match at Providence Park on July 22 against Earthquakes II. 

Every game of the MLS NEXT Pro inaugural season will be streamed live on www.mlsnextpro.com. In addition, more than 30 games will be billed as “Games of the Week”, featuring enhanced productions. Each MLS NEXT Pro club will have at least one home game featured, and all playoff games will be enhanced productions.

The partnership announced between the Portland Timbers and Hillsboro Hops in October of 2019 will continue in 2022 and T2 will call Hillsboro Stadium home. The MiLB club will be responsible for running business operations, including marketing, ticketing and sponsorship sales. The Timbers will continue to own and manage soccer operations for the club.
