"My New Favorite Futbolista" podcast chats with Christine Sinclair ahead of World Cup

16x9 SocialStill Series - Christine Sinclair Episode (1)
Latest episodes include Thorns teammates Christine Sinclair and Becky Sauerbrunn

Ahead of the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, Thorns FC defender Meghan Klingenberg – a member of the U.S. Women's National Team for the 2015 Women's World Cup title – joined up with soccer host Eric Alvarez for a special series of in-depth interviews around players to root for at this summer's World Cup.

Titled My New Favorite Futbolista, and presented by the storytellers at NBC and Telemundo in partnership with Lemonada and On Her Turf, the podcast introduces some of global soccer's most inspiring players and the causes they champion. A number of the guests also just happen to be Thorns stars as well.

In these latest episodes, Canada legend and Thorns captain Christine Sinclair, soccer’s all-time international goal scoring leader, has always let her stellar play do the talking for her...until now. Sinclair opens up about gender equity, multiple sclerosis and more.

We also hear from Thorns defender and World Cup champion Becky Sauerbrunn, who due to injury will not feature in this year’s event, but has an important story to tell. Sauerbrunn describes herself as an “introvert,” but she proudly steps out of her comfort zone to advocate for causes she finds important, from trans inclusion to gender equity.

Be sure to keep an eye out in an upcoming episode with Sophia Smith (July 19).
