PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers have signed goalkeeper Chris Konopka, it was announced today.
Konopka, 31, began his professional career with the Kansas City Wizards in 2007, and also played for the New York Red Bulls (2011), Philadelphia Union (2012-13) and Toronto FC (2013-15) in six previous MLS seasons. A native of Toms River, N.J., Konopka made a career-high 21 appearances (21 starts) in 2015 with Toronto FC.
Konopka most recently played for Ross County FC in the Scottish Premiership, winners of the 2015-16 Scottish League Cup. Previously, Konopka played for Bohemians FC of the League of Ireland in 2008 and spent two additional seasons in Ireland with Sporting Fingal in 2009 and Waterford United in 2010.
