PORTLAND, Ore.
- Portland Timbers' forward Byron Alvarez was named to the A-League Team of the Week in recognition of a two-goal performance in Sunday's 3-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders in Week 17, it was announced Tuesday.
Alvarez scored the game-winner in the 69th minute and added on another score in the 81st, as the Timbers beat the Sounders for the first time this season, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
The award was the fourth of the season for Alvarez, who was also named Player of the Week in Week 12 for a hat trick performance vs. Vancouver.
