Timbers midfielder Marvin Loría named to Costa Rica U-23 Men's National Team roster

PORTLAND, Ore. â€“ The Portland Timbers today announced that midfielder Marvin LorĂ­a has been called in by the Costa Rica U-23 Men’s National Team for a training camp from Dec. 9-15 at Complejo Deportivo Fedefutbol Plycem in San JosĂ©, Costa Rica. During that span, the team will play two friendly matches against Costa Rica First Division teams in preparation for the 2020 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship. 


LorĂ­a, 22, has made several appearances for Costa Rica at the youth level, including three appearances (one start) at the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Costa Rica. Additionally, LorĂ­a received his first call-up to the senior men’s national team on Feb. 2, 2019, starting and playing 77 minutes in a 2-0 loss against the U.S. Men’s National Team at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif.


In his first season with the Timbers, the San JosĂ©, Costa Rica, native made his Major League Soccer debut against the Houston Dynamo on June 22, 2019, tallying his first career goal for the Timbers in a 4-0 home win. LorĂ­a recorded 20 appearances (nine starts) across all competitions in 2019, registering two goals and one assist.
