Timbers Notebook: Taylor joins teammates in camp

New midfielder Tom Taylor arrived in Portland over the weekend and has joined his Timbers teammates in camp. Taylor, who finished the 2006-07 season with Walsall FC and Halesowen Town in England, is ready for his first USL season.

"I flew in over the weekend and started training with the team on Saturday," said Taylor. "Portland is very nice and has been good to me so far."

"It's great to finally have Tom in camp," said Timbers head coach Gavin Wilkinson. "There are expectations that follow him here to Portland, he looks fit and energic and he will get his chances."

Taylor, a native of Lichfield, England, began his carrer at the age of 20 with a first division team in Norway and played the last two seasons with clubs in England.

Taylor will be available for Wilkinson starting this weekend as the Timbers play host to 2007 USL First Division expansion clubs the California Victory and Carolina Railhawks.
