Timbers unveil 2008 youth camps schedule

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Timbers announced today the club will conduct seven youth soccer camps in the greater-Portland area during the 2008 season, including five on the new state-of-the-art FieldTurf playing surface at PGE Park.

Led by select Timbers players and coaches, each of the seven youth camps feature professional instruction designed to improve skills and generate a better understanding of the game in a fun and educational environment.

The Timbers’ 2008 camp schedule is highlighted by three camps with a specific goalkeeping focus, and a new high school prep camp designed for players age 13-18 at the end of July.

Presented by Nike, Timbers youth soccer camps are open to kids age 8-14 and cost $150 per camp. Each participant receives 12 hours of professional, on-field training, an official Nike camp T-shirt and soccer ball, and a ticket to an upcoming regular-season Timbers match.

Once again, the list of Timbers soccer camp options this summer include competitive team camps designed to improve team tactics as well as individual skills. Team camps, for groups of up to 15 players, include 12 hours of instruction and provide an excellent opportunity for team bonding and development.
