How do you soar? Thorns FC launch new Facebook tab in interactive fan photo contest

“Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t accomplish something. Use that as motivation to get where you want to be.” - Thorns FC forward Alex Morgan

How do you soar? That’s the question the Portland Thorns are asking fans with their new Facebook application.

The 2013 NWSL Champions have launched a brand new tab on their Facebook page that asks fans to celebrate this Rose City community through photos by sharing what motivates you and expressing what it means to be a Portland Thorns FC supporter

In short: tell us how you soar.

The rules for entry are simple. Fans will be able to take a photo and upload it into the new application hosted on the Thorns Facebook page. They will then adjust several aspects of their submission including sizing, customized Thorns filters and orientation. Entrants will then write a caption explaining how they soar.

Thorns players have helped out with their own responses to the question, which is taken from the Oregon state motto Alis volat propriis. Translated into English, the phase, “She flies with her own wings,” embodies how Thorns players can stand as role models for those looking to achieve their goals.

Submissions will be shareable through Facebook and a direct link, so users are encouraged to post their entries to their own pages to encourage votes with various contest winners being announced weekly for game tickets, team merchandise, and more all leading to a grand prize announcement of a special ticket package, autographed Thorns gear and the opportunity to go to meet two Thorns players in person.

To get there, in the final week, the top 11 images will be placed in a final round to compete for the grand prize, which will be announced at the end of May. Moreover, the top 250 vote-getters will have their photo featured in a mural at Providence Park.

Get out there and start sharing.
