Darlington Nagbe, Timbers vs. Rapids, 9.13.14

6Portland midfieder Darlington Nagbe slipped a clever ball to Fanendo Adi last week on the third and final goal in the team's 3-0 win over Vancouver. The assist gave Nagbe--the Timbers MLS career leader in appearances with 122--six on his 2014 campaign which set a new career mark.

6 & 7Timbers midfield maestro Diego Valeri has been putting up MVP-esque performances and numbers as of late. Over the last 12 league matches, Valeri has scored 6 goals and contributed 7 assists. He now has 14 assists, tied for second-most in MLS this season behind LA’s Landon Donovan.

1-4-2Toronto have sputtered down the stretch, winning just one match in their last seven tries while tallying four losses. Two of those losses have come on their home pitch at BMO Field. Meanwhile, the Timbers have gone 3-1-3 over their last seven games.

39Portland is now in the driver's seat entering the final five games of the season. With a win last week over Cascadia rivals Vancouver, 3-0, the Timbers have catapulted themselves two points clear of the Whitecaps in the race for the final playoff spot out West.

2+2+2+2Forward Fanendo Adi netted his fourth brace of the season against Vancouver, setting a Timbers MLS record for braces in a single season. Adi ranks second in MLS in two-goal games, behind Sporting Kansas City forward Dom Dwyer (5).
